Dumpster Rental
The Right Container for the Job
Most people call us knowing they have too much debris and not much else. That's fine — sizing a container is our job, not yours. What we need from you is the job: what you're tearing out, roughly how much of it, and where the container has to sit.
We run our own hydraulic dump trailer and we rent roll-offs in every size across the Austin metro, so we're not trying to force you into one answer. If a $75/day dump trailer handles your job in two trips, we'll say so. If you're going to be filling a container for three weeks, you want a roll-off and we'll get you one.
Dumpster Sizes and What They Hold
| Size | Capacity | Typical job |
|---|---|---|
| 10 Yard | 10 cu yd · ~1 trailer load | Small bathroom or kitchen remodel, a single-room gut, a garage or shed cleanout. Also the usual pick for heavy debris — concrete, brick, dirt, roofing shingles — because weight, not volume, is the limit on those. |
| 15 Yard | 15 cu yd · ~2 trailer loads | A medium remodel, flooring tear-out across a few rooms, a mid-size roof tear-off, or a garage plus a storage unit. |
| 20 Yard | 20 cu yd · ~2.5 trailer loads | The one most people end up in. Full-house remodel, large cleanout, deck teardown, a typical residential roof. |
| 30 Yard | 30 cu yd · ~4 trailer loads | Whole-home cleanout, new construction debris, a major demo, or a commercial turnover. |
| 40 Yard | 40 cu yd · ~5 trailer loads | Big commercial jobs and large construction. Bulky, light material — not for concrete or dirt. |
Our dump trailer holds 8 cubic yards — so two trailer loads is roughly a 20 yard box, three is roughly a 30. A pickup bed is only about 2 cubic yards, so don't size off truck loads. Availability varies by size and by what you are throwing away — heavy material like concrete, dirt and shingles is limited by weight long before the box is full. Tell us the job and we will put you in the right size.
Dumpster or Dump Trailer?
This is the question worth getting right, because it's usually the difference between a couple hundred dollars and considerably more.
A dump trailer makes sense when the job is one or two loads, you have a 3/4-ton truck with a 2 5/16" ball and a brake controller, and you'd rather control your own schedule. Ours is 12 ft by 6 ft with 3 ft walls — 8 cubic yards, or roughly three to four pickup loads — at a flat $75/day. You can also move it around the property or to a second job site, which no roll-off will ever do.
A roll-off makes sense when you'll fill it more than twice, the project runs for weeks, you're doing a full demo or new construction, or you simply don't have a truck to pull anything. It sits there, you fill it at your own pace, and it goes away.
Don't have a truck but only have one load? There's a third option: we'll drop our trailer at your place, let you load it, then come back and haul it to the dump for you. For a lot of one-and-done cleanouts that's the cheapest way through.
Tell Us the Job →What Goes In and What Doesn't
Here is where we land on this. Construction debris, remodel material, furniture, yard waste, roofing, flooring, drywall and general junk are all fine. What we can't take:
- Hazardous material — paint, solvents, oil, chemicals, asbestos
- Batteries and tires — these need their own disposal stream
- Refrigerant appliances — fridges and AC units need the refrigerant pulled first
- Mattresses and some appliances — usually accepted, but they carry a separate disposal charge, so mention them up front
Heavy material is its own conversation. Concrete, brick, dirt, and roofing shingles are priced by weight and will hit the limit long before the box looks full — which is why a 10 yard is often the right container for a job that sounds much bigger.
